Accommodation and Resources

The mathematics department is situated upstairs in the school and is made up of 7 rooms.  Most of the main school lessons are taught there and students know that this is the place to come for help.  A level lessons are taught in the main college building.

  • Each room has its own interactive whiteboard (Promethean) and its own computer for teacher use.
  • Two of the rooms share the department’s ICT resources of 30 computers. Laptop trolleys can also be booked for use.
  • The department is well resourced with sets of Impact books and Mathslinks books for each class in Years 7 – 9. Level Up books have been purchased for lower ability Year 7.
  • Years 10 and 11 have Foundation and Higher GCSE books written for the AQA course.
  • We are currently updating the ‘A Star Learning’ website to accommodate every year group.  Students can use the site to watch tutorials and complete worksheets, exam questions and quizzes. Click here to take a look.
  • Bespoke homework booklets have now been created for each year group. This allows students to fully engage and practise what they are learning in class at home. To help support parents we have included QR codes next to questions that link to YouTube tutorials.
  • We subscribe to the integral website click here, part of the Advanced Mathematics support Programme, to give our A level students access to further course materials and set online assessments.

Extra-curricular Activity and Trips

Maths is fun.
We know that, but sometimes it’s not so obvious to the students.  We think it is important to enhance pupil’s mathematical experience with extra-curricular activities.  Some of our regular activities are listed below.

  • We offer a club to help pupil solve problems and puzzles, play chess and other strategy games.
  • We have two maths impact days
    ◦ A trip to Norwich Castle for Year 7s
    ◦ An Enterprise and Finance Day for Year 8s
    ◦ A code breaking trip to Bletchley Park for year 9s
  • We enter students into the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Maths Challenges.

Our Schools

Synergy Multi-Academy Trust comprises fifteen Norfolk schools serving children between the ages of 2 and 18. Our schools work collaboratively together to raise standards and provide education of the highest possible standard, offering the best of opportunities for pupils. The Trust was initially established in 2015. We believe that all of our schools have strengths and areas to develop, and that all can improve through sharing expertise and wisdom. The Trust understands that there will be excellent practice in each school, and that every school will be able to contribute to the development of the Trust as a whole.
